Finally!!

"and I say YEAHH" (from Usher - Yeah)

School has endend, finally, and I feel now free! This last week was terrible, we had too much work to do and to many tests in a very short period of time. I was getting paranoid, as I am, I've always left works to the last day, staying until late in the PC, sleeping too less and having tests the day after.
It was a tough week, but finally found its end! I have some work to do during these holidays, but most probably, won't think about them until 2005. =)

Shake! Shake!

yesterday, by 2:30 pm, there was an earthquake, felt in lisbon with intensity of 5.4 in Ritcher scale.

I was just sitting in this very comfortable chair, relaxing, looking at the PC with nothing to do, everyone who was online was busy, probably studying to the many tests and works that we have this week, when I started hearing the cupboard trembling, I didn't pay attention to it. But, just a moment after that I felt the floor trembling! I had just felt the wave of an earthquake passing through! Damn, what a jump! I ran to the nearest doorway and stayed there until everything settled down.

After calming down I came back to the PC and started asking everyone if they had felt it. I noticed that many of them didn't know what to do in case of earthquake so I decided to post here some tips for your reaction:
  • Don't Panic.
  • Don't try to runaway (if it is a big earthquake you won't have time for it).
  • Find shelter underneath a doorway or a table (they'll protect you against falling stones).
  • If you're in a shopping center stay near a column ( they last longer).
  • After the earthquake find out how can you be useful and where help is needed and wait for news in the media, radio or TV.
Hope you'll never have to presence one, but better be aware and prevented!

Still thinking about one...

Well, tired of thinking on a subject, I decided to post without one...
Where are some suggestions for those that, like me, can't find a decent subject to post about:
  • The Moon's phases' effects in the paremecia's reproductive cycle on Mars. (An interesting suggestion from my brother.... I doubt that you can find paramecias in Mars....)
  • The usage of plankton to produce chalk. (after working on this subject, explain it to me!)
  • Titanium dioxide as ingredient of candies, wall inks and toothpaste and it's effects on the environment. (It's true... People eat candies with ingredients used in civil construction and in toothpaste... Titanium dioxide it's also terrible for the environment because the production of this compound is really harmful to the environment.)
  • Che Guevara Agricultural Policy in North Africa (Che Guevara in North Africa???)
  • Why aren't elephants pink colored?
And much more subjects that you can surely find if you use your imagination in subjects which you're acquainted to, subjects with which you deal in you daily life and others that you feel inspired to write about. Don't try to write about a subject that you're not familiar to without thinking and learning something about it, otherwise you'll find difficulties during your writing.

Think about it...

"When the last tree has fallen,
When the last river has dried
When the last fish is fished
You'll understand that money
\doesn't feed"
Greenpeace

I have posted this verse so that you can think about it, it's a sad truth but man just think about collecting money, no matter what damages such attitude may have on the natural harmony and, consequently, on living creatures, including Men. I just hope that someday people will understand that there are much more important things than money, such as Life, Nature and Happiness.

Save the environment

People pollute the world by many means.
In addition to, recycling, economizing energy and shortening waste production, we can help the environment by consuming less and better.
Greenpeace is working on a campaign against toxins in products, and which anyone can help by spreading the available information and by consuming only products from certified brands, such as Samsung, Nokia and Puma, instead of buying products that use toxins, such as those from Dell, HP/Compaq and IBM.

Feed the World

December has came and Christmas time too!
It's time of happiness, friendship, hope and altruism, so let's bring a smile to the world and those that may not know that's X-mas time, there are lots of people to whom your help is really important, so help them!
There are many different ways to help, such as being part of a campaign to bring X-mas spirit to poor or old people who may not have means or company for Christmas.
Here's a lyric from the album Do They Know it's Christmas that's for sale and which profits will feed starving children in Sudan.

1:
It's Christmas time
There's no need 2 B afraid
At Christmas time
We let in light and we banish shade
And in our world of plenty
We can spread a smile of joy
Throw your arms around the world
At Christmas time

2:
But say a prayer
Pray 4 the other ones
At Christmas time it's hard
But when U're having fun
There's a world outside your window
And it's a world of dread and fear
Where the only water flowing
Is the bitter sting of tears
And the Christmas bells that ring
There R the clanging chimes of doom
Well 2night thank God it's them instead of U

Feed the world
Let them know it's Christmas time
Feed the world
Do they know it's Christmas time at all?

3:
And there won't B snow in Africa
This Christmas time
The greatest gift they'll get this year is life
Where nothing ever grows
No rain nor rivers flow
Do they know it's Christmas time at all?

Feed the world
Let them know it's Christmas time
Feed the world
Let them know it's Christmas time again

BRIDGE:
(Here's 2 U) raise a glass 4 everyone
(Here's 2 them) underneath that burning sun
Do they know it's Christmas time at all?

END:
Feed the world
Let them know it's Christmas time

END:
(repeat & fade)
