Trick or Treat

It is said that paganism doesn't exist anymore, but the truth is that it's signs are everywhere and has resisted to the constant efforts from the catholic church in erasing it's inheritance. People found alternative ways to keep the ancient knowledge and wisdom so that it has resisted to the ever-changing society and always will.
The ancient traditions are kept in many ways most of them we know but just are not used to associate them to their origin, yet nowadays it's notable how people are getting much more interested in the ancient culture specially in books and fiction on that subject such as Da Vinci Code, The mists of Avalon and others.(Both pretty good books, the first it's perhaps to previsible while the second it's the Best).
All these to arrive to today's subject! Today's Halloween and maybe some don't know where does this tradition come from, probably now guessing that it comes from the paganism. It's true!
October 31st it's the day in which Celtic religions (now called Wiccans) celebrate the Samhain when the Godess left this world to the ends of the God until next spring, also called as November Eve, Hallowe'en, Feast of Souls, and Feast of the Dead.
Feast of Dead or Feast of Souls 'cause it was believed that in this day death people who have made their 1st year path could possess living people and leave their advises and prophecies.

After this cultural moment I guess I can only wish you a Happy Halloween full of treats and funny tricks.

First Time

Hi everyone!!
I guess first thing I should do is to present myself...
My name s Manuel, I'm almost 16(my birthday is at 20th November) and I live in Lisbon, Portugal. For my English classes I have to create my own language portfolio and present it in the end of each term for evaluation. (A language portfolio it's a "dossier" in which I should report my most significant language experiences and evolution through the year)
For the last two weeks that I've been thinking about this portfolio but I just couldn't find a creative and original way to organize it. Yesterday, I found light! I had just found what I was looking for! I would create a Blog!
And that's it! Right now I'm here writing this first entry for the blog! I hope you'll like it and I'll really like to read your comments.
